I found a bunch of small wooden boxes at the thrift store. They were a garish purple with white and yellow daisies painted on them. They had wooden crosses with yellow daisies hanging on the inside. Pretty bizarre little things...
I painted one with black gesso and randomly stamped a skull background stamp on it (from After Midnight) - embossed in white and then gone over with some yellowish glaze to age it.
I painted the inside and smeared a bit of white over it to dirty it up a bit. Oh- and I removed the wooden cross. These were very roughly made little boxes.
Then I started going through old photos and memorabilia. I wasn't always an eccentric aging housewife. Once I was an eccentric young woman. LOL I have quite a few skeletons in my closet.
Those are handmade paper beads you see on the peace sign symbol. I must have made those about 30 years ago. And they held up great. I have recently been making more of those. :)
I kept adding other things. I think it might be done. Probably needs a final go round. There is some stuff on the back too. I'll have to take a picture of it at some point.
This was a fun project. Nice trek back through time.
Oh yeah- the report card is showing the 'D' I got in art in the 8th grade. I wasn't good at following directions or doing the assigned projects. ROFLMAO
